About us
SEEN Safety is an award-winning New Zealand company pioneering sensor technology to protect pedestrians working near heavy mobile equipment. Since launching our flagship IRIS 860 sensor in 2019, hundreds of companies across more than 20 countries, including many of the world’s leading brands, have trusted SEEN to enhance the safety of their material handling operations.
Background
At SEEN, we were alarmed by the number of serious injuries and fatalities caused by forklifts and heavy machinery each year. We sought to understand why this problem persists and identified three key challenges:
Passive safety measures like high-visibility clothing, training, and warning lights, depend on people noticing hazards and reacting correctly, which isn’t always reliable.
Because human error is inevitable, an additional active layer of protection is essential to catch mistakes when passive controls fail.
Existing active safety systems are often too complex, costly, or ineffective in real-world conditions, limiting their adoption.
Mission
Our mission at SEEN is to equip health and safety managers with a practical, effective tool to reduce pedestrian risk. While no single solution fits every workplace, we focus on creating user-friendly, affordable technology that makes a real difference - helping workers return home safely every day.
History
Seen Safety Limited (then called Hunter Safety Lab Limited) was originally founded in 2014 by two industrial designers on a mission to prevent mistaken-for-game hunting accidents.

At SEEN, we believe safety technology must be practical to be effective. That’s why our approach is driven by industrial design principles, putting real-world users—not just technical specs—at the center.

Production
All SEEN’s products are designed in SEEN’s New Zealand headquarters, and manufactured in Thailand by an ISO-90001 certified electronic manufacturing company.
